Alaska Regional's Administrative Team
Meet the leaders that make up Alaska Regional's Administrative Team. This group works tirelessly to keep the hospital running smoothly so our staff can focus on what Alaska Regional is best known for: providing the best healthcare in Alaska.
Mark Roberts, Chief Executive Officer
Mark joined our hospital family in June, 2025. Mark came to us from HCA Healthcare's Corpus Christi Medical Center in Texas, where he was the Chief Operating Officer for a multi-campus system with 631 total beds and 1,700 colleagues. Mark's career began in patient care, as a radiologic technologist, and quickly advanced to oversee the imaging program at UC Davis Medical Center, and later accepted a position as head of imaging and catheterization lab services at King Faisal Hospital in Saudi Arabia. He joined HCA Healthcare in 2011. Mark earned a master's degree in health administration from Webster University and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Dr. Serene Perkins, Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Serene Perkins has been Alaska Regional Hospital’s Chief Medical Officer since July, 2025. Dr. Perkins is an accomplished surgical oncologist and a proven medical leader. She joined the Alaska Regional team after serving as the CMO for Providence Alaska’s physician group. Prior to that, she held CMO roles in the lower 48, first in Oregon and then in Florida. In those roles she led quality and safety initiatives, introduced value-based care models, and supported strategic growth areas. Dr. Perkins is an accomplished researcher and expert voice in liver treatment and surgical oncology, with dozens of published peer-reviewed studies, research activities and lectures. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago before attending the Chicago Medical School for her M.D. and completing her general surgery residency in Pennsylvania. She then completed a research fellowship in molecular genetics and a clinical fellowship in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgical oncology as well as solid organ transplantation. She also taught in the surgical programs at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.
Paul Durkee, Chief Financial Officer
Paul joined the Alaska Regional Hospital family in May, 2025. Paul has established himself as a strong financial leader during his HCA Healthcare career, and as the CFO of HealthTrust, the enterprise's supply chain and performance improvement organization. In that role, Paul strategically managed the financial health of the supply chain programs at 19 hospitals across the two divisions, which span five states. Throughout his career, he also served as assistant CFO, controller and accountant. Paul received his Master's and Bachelor's Degrees from Weber State University, both in Accounting.
Candi Stanley, Chief Nursing Officer
Candi Stanley, MSN, RN, is our Chief Nursing Officer. Candi has more than 30 years of nursing and healthcare leadership experience, most recently serving as Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Candi's many areas of expertise include leading large multidisciplinary teams while strengthening operational performance and advancing patient experience and colleague engagement. She has spearheaded initiatives that reduced RN turnover and vacancy rates, improved patient satisfaction scores, and significantly expanded new graduate nurse recruitment. Candi earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in Arizona and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University. She serves as a Major in the United States Army Reserves, where she provides executive oversight of personnel and operational readiness.
Melissa Butler
Melissa Butler is Alaska Regional Hospital's new Chief Operating Officer. She brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience to the position, including nine years with HCA Healthcare – Alaska Regional's parent company – where she held key leadership roles within the Gulf Coast Division and at Corpus Christi Medical Center. Her background spans strategic planning, operational leadership and process improvement, with a focus on enhancing patient care and driving organizational efficiency. As COO, Melissa oversees daily operations and collaborates closely with leaders across the hospital to strengthen performance, optimize resources and advance a culture of excellence and accountability. She is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Melissa earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from National American University and Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University.
Yvonne Schofield
Yvonne Schofield has joined Alaska Regional Hospital as the Vice President of Operations. With over 20 years of nursing experience and healthcare leadership, Yvonne brings clinical insight, strategic vision and operational excellence to her role. Yvonne supports hospital operations, drives financial performance and key performance metrics, and guides departmental goals in alignment with the hospital's strategic business plan. Yvonne comes to Alaska Regional from Corpus Christi Medical Center in Texas, where she served as Director of Surgical Services since 2022. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from Galen College of Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.

MountainStar Healthcare is part of HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division, an award-winning network of care sites in Alaska, Idaho and Utah.
From its office in the heart of Salt Lake City, the Mountain Division team supports the care delivered in 11 hospitals and more than 100 total locations. Evan Ray, Mountain Division President
As President of HCA Healthcare's Mountain Division, Evan Ray leads approximately 10,000 colleagues in an award-winning network with care sites in Alaska, Idaho and Utah. He began serving in this capacity on March 18, 2024.
Evan is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) with more than two decades of experience as a healthcare executive and a proven track record of developing and expanding patient services to meet the healthcare needs of the communities he has served.
Prior to leading the Mountain Division, Evan served as the executive vice president and chief administrative officer of HCA Healthcare's Gulf Coast Division. In that role, Evan was responsible for multiple hospitals in Houston and South Texas as well as a number of outpatient care sites and service lines. During his five years in Houston, the Gulf Coast Division experienced substantial growth by advancing capabilities and improving access to care options.
Evan previously spent 18 years serving as a healthcare executive in Alabama, Iowa and South Carolina. He received a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham after completing his undergraduate degree at Mississippi State University.
Kevin McKeown, Mountain Division Chief Financial Officer
Kevin McKeown leads the financial operations for the Mountain Division as our Chief Financial Officer, a role he has held since April 2026. Kevin is excited to serve the Mountain Division as it focuses on meeting the needs of some of the nation's fastest-growing communities.
Kevin joined the Mountain Division team in April after demonstrated success as a financial leader at HCA Healthcare facilities in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. In his most recent role at HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital, he deployed significant capital investments across a multi-campus system.
In previous CFO and Assistant CFO roles, he launched life-saving care programs, integrated hospitals into the network, and led efficiency improvements. Before joining HCA Healthcare, he advised and audited large health systems as part of Deloitte & Touche.
Kevin received his bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and later earned a Master of Accounting from Wake Forest University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst.
John Armour, Mountain Division Chief Financial Officer
John Armour leads the financial operations for the Mountain Division as our Chief Financial Officer, a role he has held since October 2023. John is excited to serve the Mountain Division as it focuses on meeting the needs of some of the nation's fastest-growing communities.
John joined the Mountain Division from the Methodist Hospital system in the San Antonio area, where he effectively managed the financial performance of three acute care hospitals, five freestanding emergency centers, four ambulatory surgery centers and 14 physician practices.
John's leadership and financial planning were instrumental in several important growth initiatives, including new hospitals and expansions at existing facilities. He previously served as the CFO in HCA Healthcare's Gulf Coast Division and also held several leadership roles at facilities throughout Texas.
John received his Bachelor's in Business Administration and Accounting from Southern Arkansas University, and an MBA from Northcentral University.
Dr. Sara Kelly, Mountain Division Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Sara Kelly is the Division Chief Medical Officer for HCA Healthcare's Mountain Division, overseeing medical staff operations and quality programs for our 11 hospitals and associated facilities.
Dr. Kelly joined the Mountain Division from a sister HCA Healthcare facility in Louisiana. An emergency medicine physician by background, she led significant quality improvements at the 346-bed Rapides Regional Medical Center, helping the hospital improve quality metrics and earn several prestigious external accolades.
Prior to joining HCA Healthcare, Dr. Kelly founded and operated an urgent care center and served as the clinic's medical and lab director. A physician since 2001, she has served patients in Oklahoma, Ohio, Florida and Louisiana.
Dr. Kelly earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Des Moines University and a Master of Health Administration at Louisiana State University at Shreveport.
